Performance & Staging

Randy Performance

When was the last time you reviewed a video-tape of your performance on stage, with a detailed critique from a Performance Coach?

One of an artist’s biggest sources of revenue is touring so there can be no shortage of importance put on live performance. There are many ways to entertain an audience. It’s all about ‘STYLE’. Barbara Streisand sings with her hands. Frank Sinatra casually strolled around the stage in a tuxedo with a cigarette, Taylor Swift changes outfits a lot and Prince wears his guitar like a gunslinger. Performing involves many things including timing, reading the room, spontaneity and being prepared for unforeseen circumstances.

When an artist is touring on a bus, doing radio interviews at 7am, press interviews and sound check in the afternoon and performing at night, it’s hard work but, one can only rehearse so much. Eventually, you’ve got to put it in front of an audience. That is where and when fans truly connect with artists; when they see them ‘LIVE’.

But giving a great live performance is only part of the gig, as they say. Selecting the right band members, staging, attire, hair, make-up, on-stage relationship with band leaders and musicians, pre-planning set lists, changing set lists on the spot according to the audience, what to say between songs and knowing how to plan, pace and rehearse a show, are all a part of live performance training. Once Randy Barr evaluates your strengths and weaknesses on stage via video tapes of your shows, your live performance will change everything. And most importantly, performance coaching will prepare you for label showcases, when the time comes.
